Review - VS Eye Primer & other news :)

Victoria's Secret PRO Lasting FX Eyeshadow Primer - $8

I bought this eye primer on a complete whim. I went to VS because I had a gift card with $10 on it burning a whole in my wallet. I figured I'd head over the makeup and grab some lipgloss or something.

This cute lil' redhead walks up and asks if she can help me find anything. I relpy, "Well, I've got a little money on a gift card I want to use up and I thought I'd add to my lipgloss collection. lol" That's when I notice the primer and pick it up. She says, "That stuff is great. I am a die-hard MAC girl, which I probably shouldn't even say while I'm here, but I use that primer and it's fantastic." I figured, well hell... it's only $8 and I've been needing a primer so why not?

This stuff is great! I love it. It has such a satin feel to it and it goes on so smooth. I found it easier to apply my eyeshadow and it really brought out the pigments. Later in the day, my eyeshadow still hadn't creased. I'd definitely recommend this to a friend!

So thank you to the redhead at VS who convinced me to buy it! :)

I'm so excited! If you don't already know who Maegan of ...loveMaegan is - go check out her blog. It's one of the best fashion blogs. Well, she doesn't have giveaways often... but when she does, they are GOOD. (This chick gave away RAY BANS as a prize once!!) Her latest giveaway prize was Revitalash Eyelash Condition (worth $150) ANDDDDDD

I won!!!!

Thanks so much Maegan! (I guess I should really be thanking lol)

Lastly, don't forget! My brown faux fur boots on Ebay will be ending in 9 hours if you are interested :)

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

I'm on the hunt...

So I basically spent ALL DAY today searching for [reasonably priced] boots like these:

...preferably in black

I went to Kohl's, Ross, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Target, Macy's, Dillards, Sears, JC Penney, small malls stores, Walmart... and all with no luck. :(

I would resort to ordering online but I HATE waiting for them to ship! I'd rather drive to the store and leave with them the same day. lol

Anyone know of any good places to look?

It's 3am and I just can't sleep...

I have a dentist appointment on Monday but until then, I'm taking hydrocodone (pain medication) to help until Monday rolls around. So I took some earlier today and passed out and I didn't wake up until after 6pm!! THEN, I had a cup of coffee when I got up because I was craving the hazelnut coffee I'm addicted to. lol Therefore, it's 3am and I am WIDE awake.
Unfortunately for me, tomorrow I work a DOUBLE shift at work. :/ I need to get to sleep.

But until then!!! I want to share some great deals I scored today while I was out shopping :)

I've been searching for the perfect motorcycle, or "bomber", jacket since before Christmas! I finally found THE ONE today at Kohls.

This baby is on sale this weekend for only $22!! (Originally $58)

Oh, fyi - Kohls is having a HUGE sale this weekend. It only last 3 days!!

I got these super cute flats at Walmart for only $9.

I haven't decided if I love them or not... I don't know how I feel about the pointy toe just yet. I may return them and head over to Target who's got some super cute flats I've been eye-ing. [like these, ooh! Or even better... like these!]

Now I MUST try to get some shut-eye.

*One last thing! I've got some boots up for auction on Ebay now... Go check it out! I'll post about it later :) [SUPER CUTE BOOTS ON EBAY]*

My weekend... in pictures!

My weekend was so jam-packed that I didn't get to write one single post! Let's see... we'll start with Friday.

Friday, I just worked. No pictures there lol

Moving on to Saturday... lol

I had to work that morning, but unfortunately I was off that night while Justin had to work. So I decided to have a little [early] Valentine's Day surprise and I bought glittery hearts from Walmart and hung them in the apartment, then I did something he NEVER saw coming! I cooked a dinner from scratch.

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

This event was so monumental because, well... you see, I can't/don't cook. Ask anyone! "Hey, does Lindsay know how to cook?" I can guarantee you they'd laugh and reply, "Bahaha! Lindsay? Yeah, fish sticks and macaroni and cheese." I just don't possess that gift to be able to cook well.

However, I got ahold of a recipe that promised hope. I read through the ingredients and the directions and thought, "I think I can pull this one off." I wasn't too sure since I'd have to make the sauce from scratch... but I must say I am damn proud of my first real meal. It was delicious. :)

Right before I was about to implement my Valentine's Day surprise for my honey... the bestie calls. She invites Justin and I out to a country western bar with her and her new man. I wanted to go but I thought that surely Justin wouldn't since by the time he gets home, he'd have worked a double shift that day and he'd be super tired. On top of that, Justin and I have been together for 3 1/2 years and we've only gone out "dancing" ONCE and he hated it. But I told her I'd ask him to see what he thought then get back to them.

Justin comes home... loves his Valentine's Surprise AND the food. [:) hehe] As we eat, I let him know, "Hey, Leslie called and invited us out to this country western dance bar not to far from here. It sounds kind of fun and we don't ever go out." As I was expecting to hear a "Well babe, I'm really tired so maybe next time" he responds with, "You know what? That sounds fun. Let's do it!"

Justin gettin' jiggy wit it to Michael Jackson, Lynard Skynryd, and a little play that funky music white boy. We had a blast. That was the first time we actually REALLY danced together. lol After 3 1/2 years... sad, I know.

I'm skipping Sunday because I worked a double for Valentine's Day... nothing exciting there. On to Monday!!

Monday I got to hit up a little thrift store shopping :) [I LOVE thrift stores lol]

The Goodwill by our house actually had some nice wedding dresses! I'm talking BRAND NEW WITH TAGS wedding dresses for only $50 AND they were in style! How they got them? I don't know. [Too bad I already bought my dress! lol Who would've thought to check Goodwill first??]

Anyway, I moved on down the line until I got into the "bridesmaid" dresses... and I found 3 of these lil' beauties -

haha... I showed this picture to my little sister Sarah [she's 7, almost 8 by the way...] and I said, "You're gonna have to wear a dress like this in the wedding." The little fashionista replies with, "I'll drop out of the wedding because I am NOT wearing that dress. My fashion career would be OVER." And she meant it. lol Sarah wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up and she has hundreds of drawings on pages (some in journals) of the clothes she's designed. Seriously.

I went to go see the family after Goodwill and I got to go surprise my little brother Noah by picking him up at the babysitters. On the way home, Justin captured this ADORABLE photo of my brothers Noah (2) and Daniel (13).

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!
Happy Tuesday :)

Let's talk about make-up: Foundation

I am on the search for a new foundation. Right now, I only use a mineral powder by N.Y.C (the only one that doesn't break me out!) but lately, with all the caffine I've consumed on top of the lack of sleep due to classes, I've been searching for a bit more coverage.

This is a very tricky task for me... You see, I've got combination oily/dry, very sensitive, breakout-prone skin. I can't use most products and I have to read down to the ingredients in everything before I consider slathering it on my face.

I have tried all kinds of cleansers - Proactive, Clinique, Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Clearasil, Olay, ... and this list could go on forever. After many breakouts and dollars spent, I've discovered that I can only wash my face with 1. Mark's That's Deep Purifying Gel Cleanser or 2. Johnson's Head-to-Toe Baby Soap.

Now on to the foundation...

This is what I've built up so far in foundation... I currently only use two of these items. A quick review of the items above:

Almay Clear Complexion Makeup - I'm not a fan of liquid foundations. No matter what they claim (matte finish, complexion clearing, etc) they always seem to leave my skin oily and shiny after just a few hours.

Almay Smart Shade Smart Balance Makeup - It's ok. I haven't noticed it breaking me out but I find it a bit hard to blend. The color can turn kind of "orange-y" but if you blend, blend, and blend... it's not so bad. The coverage is minimal. I'll probably give to this a friend.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse - I LOVE this product. This foundation smoothes and blends nicely and leaves my skin super soft yet dewy looking without all the oil. I LOVE it. However, it contains bismuth oxychloride and my sensitive skin can't deal. (I break out horribly when I use products that contain bismuth oxychloride!)

*FYI - most mineral makeup contains bismuth oxychloride so if you find that mineral foundation is breaking you out... that could be the culprit!*

Maybelline Dream Matte Liquid - Like I said above... not a fan of liquid foundation. This one especially left me oily and shiny after just a few hours. And it eventually led to breakouts.

Max Factor Pan-Stik Foundation - This is actually what I use for concealer and it's fantastic! It's the BEST thing I've found so far. The coverage is just perfect and it blends well with the rest of my makeup. I definitely recommend this to anyone!

N.Y.C. Smooth Mineral Foundation - This is the only mineral makeup I've found that doesn't irritate my skin. (It does NOT contain bismuth oxychloride). The coverage is sheer t0 light. It's perfect in the summer! After I apply the Max Factor Pan-Stik makeup to my trouble areas (under the eyes, sides of nose, any blemishes) I apply this power foundation to smooth and set everything. It layers nicely on top of foundation. The best part - it's only $4 :)
*I recommended this to a friend and she's hooked on it now too!

Now... the product I'm super excited to try -

I did some research on this product (there's no bismuth oxychloride!) and I've heard nothing but rave reviews! It sells at Target for only $13.99 but you can get a coupon for $1 off.

I'll try this out for a bit then post a review after about a week or two.

If you have any personal foundation suggestions (remember - for combo oily/dry, SENSITIVE, breakout-prone skin) leave a comment below :)

Seriously QuickTrim? I'm not buying it...

I was browsing through a magazine when I came across this advertisement for a diet pill called QuickTrim - endorsed by Kim and Khloe Kardashian - and I was appalled.

I'm sorry, but that is not Khloe Kardashian's body.

Khloe lost some weight and she's looking fantastic! Why not show her true results?

Why not celebrate what true, realistic beauty looks like?

Seriously... you should check out Glamour's article I've linked above.

Am I excusing unhealthy behaviors, or saying it's okay to lead a sedentary lifestyle because "perfection" can't be acheived and you should just be happy the way you are?

Rather than eat right and exercise to look good, do it to be healthy.

Do it for your heart.
Do it to prevent diabetes.
Do it to prevent obesity.
Do it to enjoy a longer life with the ones you love.

Do it for yourself.

Lauren Conrad - In Seventeen Magazine

You all know I just adore Lauren Condrad... primarily, her amazing sense of style.

Lauren in Seventeen Magazine

In stores now -

My fiance and I were out shopping today and I found a lot of new styles of clothing I'd like to try and just about everything I picked out he'd say, "You won't wear that." Then I responded with, "I don't dress in cute clothes because I don't have any. I need cute clothes to dress cute." So the deal is that I can buy a few new, cute pieces... but I HAVE to wear them [They are not allowed to sit in my closet for a [not so] rainy day]. Not a bad deal, eh? :)

She just might turn me into a brunette

Emma Roberts

That porcelain complexion... those gorgeous, rich brown locks... *sigh*

I wonder if she really uses Neutrogena? lol

Emma usually stays pretty natural when it comes to makeup. Neutral eyes, black eyeliner/mascara, perfect rosy cheeks, and a natural nude/pink lip.

Check out to get the look!

Just a random rant... but does it bother anyone else that cosmetic companies use false eyelashes in every mascara ad? This drives me nuts! You are claiming that this mascara does this and that but using fake lashes is kind of like false advertisement, right?? I just wish they'd show a picture of what the mascara looks like on NATURAL eyelashes. Geez, is that too much to ask?

Free lip exfoliant!

Got dry, flaky lips?
I bet you've got a free lip exfoliant just lying around!

At-home Lip Treatment

You'll need: olive oil, sugar, and a small container
(I got my pink container at Walmart in the travel size section for around .50cents)

Put sugar into the container

Pour olive oil in the container of sugar

I tore off the end of a q-tip and use it to stir the concoction :)

Add sugar/olive oil until it's at the consistancy you prefer and then voila!! You're done :)

Enjoy your super smoothe smoochers right in time for Valentine's Day!

Star Style - Taylor Swift

Lately, I've been in love with red lips. I want to find a way to wear it in a normal daily routine without being too over the top. I like to wear red lip gloss, for a sheer effect but I'd like to do something a bit bolder... but like I said, not over the top. Any tips?

If I were famous... I'd totally rock sparkly dresses too. :)
