Job Interview #2!!

This is what I wore to interview #2 (same job as this).

Cardigan -Walmart ($14)
Shirt - Walmart ($10)
Pencil Skirt - New York & Company ($40)

This interview went really great! I was told as long as I pass the background check and drug test (which both are no problem...) I am officially hired!

I'll explain more as soon as I can!

I'm so happy! Hopefully I will be DONE with waitressing forever!

Trip to Alabama

I haven't written in a while because I've been out of town visiting family in Alabama. It was so much fun! On Saturday, we went to this little hidden lake -

Me and my sisters, Sarah (8) and Lillian (6), in the car leaving the lake.

This is Sarah's fake Alabama accent...

I also got to go visit my great Uncle Roger and we looked through some really old photos of when my grandmother and Roger were growing up. I really want a copy of this one picture I saw of my grandma when she was about 18 years old... she looked just like Audrey Hepburn. I just love looking at old photos of my family.

Turns out... a lot of my family history is in Brookside, Alabama. It's neat to research it.

Magazines equal stress relief and I'm okay with that.


" Hello. My name is Lindsay and I am addicted to magazines."
"Hello Lindsay."

I don't know what it is... but I love magazines. I love the glossy pages, the colorful pictures, and the beauty/fashion/life advice. I know that the price of this habit adds up eventually, but I just can't help it!

Sometimes, I try to convince myself that I can look at the exact same photos and read the same stuff online... but it's just not the same! I would much rather hold it in my hands and read through it page by page.

I've decided to justify buying magazines because it counts as stress relief for me. I love to sit on my couch all comfy or in a hot bubble bath and read a juicy magazine. ;)

So, at least for now, I will continue to buy and read magazines because it benefits my health. (You know stress takes such a toll on the body!) I've been searching online for discount (or free!) subscriptions.

What's your unecessary must-have and how do you justify it??

I love long ["boyfriend"] cardigans & too

One trend I'm loving this summer is the boyfriend cardigan - beige color to be exact. I love how effortlessly cool this look can be. (See Rachel Bilson below)

Job Interview Outfit (Head to Toe) for under $30

So I had a job interview today. (yay!) It went well...

This is what I wore:

The whole outfit (shoes too!) was under $30.

Ruffle Shirt - $4 (Thrift Store)
Black Blazer - $4 (Goodwill)
Black slacks - $4 (Thrift Store)
Shoes - $15 (Marshalls - Clearance!)

I can't wait to get started with a new job!

It's not my timing... It's His.

Today hasn't been the easiest day for me. I've tried to avoid looking at my phone since 12am because the big fat "5" on the front only reminds me that today is June 5, 2010. Today we went to see Get Him to the Greek (which I really wish I would've waited to rent it through the Redbox but hindsight is 20/20) but Killers (with Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl) was WAY better! I actually really enjoyed it.

Anyway, back to today...

Then tonight I had the most awful night at work! [I'm a server] People were rude and felt they needed to take out their life's aggressions on me tonight. (Seriously lady, I'm sorry there was too much cabbage in your salad... but I didn't make it. No need to snap at me with "If I wanted this much cabbage I would've ordered cole slaw.")

This isn't what I thought today would be like.

When I got engaged on Valentine's Day 2009, we set a date for June 5, 2010. Today was supposed to be my wedding day.

I look at the word "supposed" and I keep thinking, "Obviously, it wasn't 'supposed' to be my wedding day, or else it would have been." Life does not proceed according to my plan. It's not my timing that matters... it's His. I know that God has a plan for my life and there is a reason I didn't get married today. I look at it today and remember how much hurt and betrayal I felt when everything fell apart - but I am reminding myself that God has a greater plan for me. He knows what he's doing.

And one of these days, it's all going to make sense.

Iced Green Tea Facial?

I saw this on Youtube and it seems pretty interesting.

You steep some green tea, add vitamin E (from capsules), pour it in an ice tray, then after it's frozen you use it daily to help your skin and constrict your pores.

I may just have to try it...

Better Legs with 3 Easy Tips

Summer time is here and it's time to break out those shorts! For some girls - this will be pain free but if you are like me, it's more of a slow [slightly painful] process.

No matter what your size, here are 3 tips for feeling more confident in those short shorts!


1. Self tanner is a miracle worker.
A tan (preferably fake!) will help to disguise so pesky little problems like cellulite and spider veins. Here are two suggestions I approve of from personal experience: Victoria's Secret Instant Self Tanner or Jergens Natural Glow. I've also heard good things about the St Tropez line as well...

2. 10 minutes of exercise really does add up.
Just devote 10 minutes a day (not even necessarily all at once!) to do a few short reps of leg exercises. You can do lunges, squats, and moves I'm sure you've seen through Pilates. (If you haven't seen/done Pilates before - it's the most effective muscle-toning workout I've done! It is HARD)

3. Minor changes to daily routines.
If it's convenient, you can bike or walk to work instead of drive.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Walk on your lunch break instead of driving.
