When it comes to flowers and centerpieces, it's so easy to go overboard! Luckily, I'm a simple kind of girl so that's what I look for when it comes to our wedding decor. You won't find any grandiose floral arrangements at our wedding! I love the look of mason jars. I need to research when the sun sets in September to know if we're going to need candles. I feel like the photos above portray my vision perfectly. 

Since I have 7 months, I plan to hit up my local thrift stores regularly. I'm looking for any interesting glass pieces (mason jars or other vases). I'll probably stop by a thrift store on my way home from work so hopefully I'll have a post later of my findings! I think thrift store finds are going to be perfect for the vintage tone (and our budget!).

So my fiance and I are finally getting the ball rolling with planning our wedding! Our date was April 30, 2011 but that date was fast approaching and we were hurting a bit financially. Well, we've finally set a [permanent] date of September 24, 2011! (We're sending the "Save the Dates" to the printer next month! That's how permanent...)  lol

I'm so excited! Planning a wedding is such an excitement! Luckily, I'm a pretty laid back person so I don't see myself getting too stressed out. :) I can't wait to share our ideas and keep you all up to date on everything!

Place: My Aunt & Uncle's ranch (outdoor wedding)

Colors: Lapis (purple) and Ivory

Theme/Style: vintage (with a mix of a little country)

Is this not the cutest perfume bottle ever? I don't even know what this stuff smells like but I want it for the bottle.

My obsessions with mermaids started at a young age. Of course, beginning with the movie The Little Mermaid and leading all the way into tying my feet together when I went swimming in our pool (even if it led to almost drowning once or twice to the lack of being able to actually swim like that... at least I was a "mermaid".) As an adult, I'm a sucker for anything with a mermaid on it. lol Yes, I even bought a child's shirt in an XL at Walmart because it featured The Little Mermaid AND glitter. Win and win.

So I've been MIA from here for about a week now... I apologize! My fiance and I went to Austin last weekend, decided to do some "spring cleaning" on President's day (what a way to spend a holiday!), hit the gym after work on Tuesday, had to leave work early yesterday to make it to my hometown an hour away to get my vehicle registration on Wednesday (and since we were there... might as well visit the family), and now it's Thursday and I'm squeezing in this post before I hit the gym at 7. I miss my days of coming home and having some quality time with my DVR. I've yet to watch the new Real Housewives of Miami but it's still waiting on me! 

I've been such a grouch here lately... it's probably good I haven't posted in a while because it'd probably be nothing but gripe, gripe, gripe! lol I'm tired, grouchy, and evidently slept on my hands the other night because I have a constellation on the left side of my chin. (My stupid sensitive skin is so dramatic sometimes...) 

Oh, and my fiance and I bought a scale. Bad - effing- idea. The first time I stepped on it I swore it had to be broken. 144lbs? NO FREAKING WAY. I've never weighed that in my life! Then I realized I was fully clothed... and later, I realized my clothes were only 4lbs. (I was seriously convincing myself I had about 12lbs in clothing.) I've got some work to do. I'm working on a diet overhaul and forcing myself to go to the gym.

I guess I'm awaiting that glorious time of month! (That's the only time I tend to get pissed off at whichever way the wind blows... lol) It's ridiculous, I know. 

Tomorrow is a new day...

OOTD - Friday Eve! Update on the closet project && I need drink recipes! Please share :)

I've been waiting to wear this skirt when the weather warms up and that day finally came. I'm not a huge fan of them. I think they're super cute and stylish but I've always chosen comfort (as in pants) over style. But I'm trying to change that... They say beauty is pain and so are these damn heels.

Wondering how the closet project is coming along? 

It's basically not coming along at all because it still looks like this...

I just haven't had any motivation! And now my fiancé and I are going to Austin this weekend so it won't get done anytime soon I fear. But trust me!! IT WILL HAPPEN! So stay tuned.

Updates about the raise & my closet! (Ok, and a little bit about Valentine's day too...)

Happy Valentine's Day/Singles Awareness Day!

My fiancé bought me those gorgeous ivory roses with little purple accent flowers because those are our wedding colors.

We chose an early dinner date to beat the rush so I wore a more casual outfit. I actually bought this shirt just about an hour before going out! I found it at a Plato's Closet and it just looked too comfy not to wear :)

Just a few updates:

1. I got my raise :) 

[and it was way more than I every imagined!]

2. I'm still working on my closet. I'm such a procrastinator! Thanks for the suggestions so far! [Please feel free to add any more :)]

3. Funny story - 

My fiance bought me a beautiful diamond necklace this Valentine's day. I had to flat out say to him a few weeks ago, "Babe. I want jewelry for Valentine's day. A meaningful piece of jewelry from you." 

He was surprised at how excited I was to get the necklace and he says, "I never thought you were 'into' getting jewelry..." 

I replied with, "I'm a woman! Of course I'm 'into' jewelry!"

Glad we got that straight... lol 

Shop Your Closet - I need advice!

Because of the blizzard that blew through Dallas last week, I ended up missing 4 days of work. Therefore, I'm really broke this week. lol I've been inspired recently by so many great style blogs that I'm in a fierce shopping mood :) 

What's a girl to do to when in need of some retail therapy? 

Shop her closet.

That's my goal for this weekend. Get rid of the clothes I don't wear and use some imagination to create new outfits out of the clothes I already own. 

I'll take some photos of my journey and next week I'll have pictures, tips, and tricks to share with you all!
