Frugalicious Find! (Joico K-Pak vs Sally's Generic Brand)

I made a trip to Sally's Beauty Supply to find some great conditioning products for my hair.

You can buy Joico products are your local Ulta. However, they are not sold online.

Sally's Generic Brand - Same crap, different bottle.

I love this stuff! My exact quote at the first stroke of brushing my hair (which is thick, curly, and course) was, "Wow, this feels like cutting butter!" lol (Seriously, I said that too my fiancé!)

It smells great and you just can't beat this deal for only $5.50.

I would recommend this to a friend.

What's your favorite hair care product?

Maybe you can find a cheaper version at Sally's!

Jennifer Aniston's Workout Routine - How to get THIS body!

February issue of Allure featuring Jennifer Aniston
I recommend this issue of Allure! There are some great beauty articles and I loved Jennifer's interview. She seems so down-to-earth and someone you'd want as a friend :) (no pun intended)

This woman's 42 year old body puts my 24 year old body to shame!

I decided that I wanted to know exactly what she does to get this type of body so I did a little research...

Jennifer mixes cardio (to burn fat) with yoga and pilates (to build muscle).

I found this helpful article at Shape.com:
Top 4 Yoga Poses - from Jennifer Aniston's Yogi - to Help You Feel Better

1. Tree Pose: When You're Stressed

Why it works:  "Balance yoga postures like this one require your complete focus, and that takes your mind off whatever’s making you frazzled."

How to do it: Stand with right foot on the inside of left calf or thigh, knee pointing out. Place hands in prayer position in front of chest, palms together, and hold for 3 breaths. Slowly raise your arms overhead [shown] and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat on opposite side.

2. Twisting Lunge: When You're Angry

Why it works: "When you're irritated, toxins build up in your liver; this yoga pose literally 'wrings' them out and massages your organs to help you calm down—I've felt it work!"

How to do it: Lunge forward with right leg until thigh is parallel to floor. Place left palm next to inside of right foot, and extend right arm up, rotating shoulders and right palm upward. Look up at hand [shown]. Hold for 5 breaths; repeat on opposite side.

   Camel: When You're Sad

Why it works: "This yoga pose helps open up your lungs so you can breathe deeply, which increases oxygen levels in your blood. That elevates your mood and makes you feel better."

How to do it: Kneel with legs shoulder-width apart, arch back, and reach hands behind you to grasp your heels. Push your hips forward so they're aligned with knees, and relax your head and neck [shown]. Hold 30 seconds, and remember to breathe deeply.

Shoulder Stand: When You're Tired

Why it works: "From this yoga position you'll increase the blood flow to your brain, which will boost your energy."

How to do it: Lie face-up with arms at sides, palms on mat, and pull knees in toward chest. Press palms down as you raise hips and extend legs straight up, placing your hands on the small of your back to support you [shown]. Hold 30 seconds.

A little humor for your day... "When I grow up..."

A first grade girl handed in the drawing below for her homework assignment.

The teacher graded it and the child brought it home.

She returned to school the next day with the following note:

Dear Ms. Davis,
I want to be perfectly clear on my child's homework illustration. It is NOT of me on a dance pole on a stage in a strip joint surrounded by male customers with money. I work at Home Depot and had commented to my daughter how much money we made in the recent snowstorm.

This is a drawing of me... selling a shovel!!!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Harrington

Sweet deals! [Ann Taylor, Old Navy, JC Penney, etc]

I finally got to do a little shopping this weekend. It was some much needed retail therapy! lol I managed to score some sweet deals in the process!

I got this cute gray/black leopard shirt from JCPenney for $5.

I also bought this shirt from Old Navy for only $7!

Now for my favorite deal this weekend! I was in search for a new pair of straight-leg/skinny jeans. I have always bought my jeans from Charlotte Russe so of course, I headed there first.

To my disappointment, Charlotte Russe has completely changed the craftmanship of their denim! Frankly, it sucks. It's much thinner now and it's obvious made cheaper. (Price is still the same of course!) I had a moment of panic thinking I was going to have to go on a jean spree trying on 100s of pairs... Then I made my way over to Ann Taylor just to look at the pretty clothing. lol

I found the perfect pair at Ann Taylor marked down to $24 AND an extra 40% off!

Ann Taylor jeans for only $15!!
*This is not the exact pair I bought because I am not petite but these are exactly what mine look like!

I absolutely love to shop but love getting bargains more!

Where is your favorite place to go for a bargain???

FOR A PURSE???

All I have to say is it better grow money inside of it...

Would you ever spend this amount on an accessory?

Outfit of the day - Billy Bob's!

So we went out to Billy Bob's this weekend. Boy was that a crazy night! Let's see - where to start? Well:

1. I saw a girl who's butt was literally hanging out from under her dress because her dress was just that short.

2. I saw a girl who was so plastered drunk that she threw up in her own drink. Very attractive - that's going to make the boys wanna take you home to mama.

3. I ran into Vienna from Jake's season of The Bachelor! I didn't watch that season so I didn't really know what to think. I know that a lot of people hated her but I understand that editing in the studio works wonders so no judgements from me!
.....................................................................................
I know Billy Bob's is a country bar/club but I'm sorry - I don't prefer to dress "country" so I don't really care if I stick out like a sore, city-girl, thumb. lol

Jacket - Kohls Boots - Macy's
Shirt - Kohls Necklace - Bella Cene'
Jeans - Levi's

Happy Tuesday!!!!

How to illuminate your face!

How to highlight your face properly:

With these easy steps, you'll be able to fake that "glow from within" in no time! Highlighting draws light to your face to flatter your natural structure.

I prefer to use this highligher by e.l.f. cosmetics - it's hard to tell but it is a light, shimmery color.

*I can't seem to find this highlighter on their website! They must not make it anymore :(

This chart shows you exactly what to highlight on your face:
- under your eyebrow
- center of your nose (the bridge to tip)
- very top of your cheekbones

Happy highlighting!

(PS - Make my day! Leave a comment...)

Meet two of my new fashionable friends!

I've discovered two new favorite blogs here recently...

Meet Lindsey from The Bargain Blonde:

A Dallas girl like myself who is obsessed with fashion and decor for a great bargain price!
..........................................................................................

and meet Noelle from Beautygirl24:

She possesses such great style! We definitely share the California-Chic/Lauren Conrad-esq fashion sense.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

I hate people.

Almost bought this at Barnes & Noble... Then decided I shouldn't be so pessimistic.

It's almost Friday, thank God.

When you're down to fitting into only 1 pair of pants... it's time to EXERCISE.

I'm down to only ONE pair of work pants that fit.

It's time for a change. You can expect to see more fitness and health topics here in the near future. Here are a few goals:

1. Eat more salads and less fat.
2. Drink more water and less empty calories.
3. Eat more fruit and less sugary treats.
4. Eat more wheat and less white.
5. and to EXERCISE.

I'll keep you updated with my trial and errors. I'll let you know what works (for me) and what doesn't. And of course... If I can ever find a short cut for anything, I'll let you know. ;)

New Suave products! YAY! Awesome lashes... and on to a Bachelor tangent.

So, I went to the store to pick up the hot rollers I've been researching (yes, I research just about EVERYTHING before I purchase it! lol). On my way to the area where you get the "hair tools," I noticed that Suave has some new products out!

I'm not a huge fan of their conditioner but everything else is great! I'm a huge fan of their styling products! The volumizing mousse doesn't leave my hair sticky and crunchy and I can't wait to try this new hairspray!

... and of course I got my rollers.
This is so random but I happened to notice how nice my eyelashes were yesterday! lol I used Maybelline Full n' Soft first, followed by Covergirl LashBlast Length. I believe that the Full n' Soft thickens and the LashBlast Length separates and lengthens.

I love lazy Sundays!
...............................................................

So this is completely off topic but I'm watching The Bachelor as I write... This is my first season I've ever watched and it kind of sucks. I don't care for Brad. He's a bit wussy and lacks an opinion on anything. I hate how he acts powerless. To be quite honest, it grosses me out a bit that he makes out with everyone. A lot of these women are ridiculous! Why are you crying over a man you've known for 2 weeks? Ugh. I'll keep watching just to keep up in the conversations...

Stylish Blogger Award! Thanks to Lindsey at The Bargain Blonde!

Lindsey from The Bargain Blonde awarded me with the Stylish Blogger Award!! Thank you!

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

7 THINGS:
1. I think I'm a pretty decent rapper. (I can keep up with some Eminem & Nicki Minaj) It's all in the pronunciation of the consonants...

2. I love to read. Currently, it's:

3. I was in dance for my whole childhood... every year. Up until senior year when I decided I'd had enough. I sure miss it.

4. I'm the oldest of 6 kids... the youngest being only 3. This is my brother, NOT my child as commonly mistaken:

5. I want to learn to speak Spanish, then French. But the only reason Spanish comes first is because I figure it'll be used the most. But I still really want to learn French.

6. I have naturally super curly hair (with which I have a love/hate relationship). This is my hair on a good day... a real good day:

7. I watch the news every weekday morning. I check the news channel websites religiously. I like to know what's going on. I love fashion... but being informed on what's going on in the world is extremely important too. (And I'm a Fox News girl... as opposed to MSNBC) lol

I pass this award to -
Noelle @ Beautygirl24
Alexandra @ HRH Collection
Melissa @ Miss Melissa

I can't wait until summer comes back around...

This photo was taken in the backyard of one of my closest friends a couple of summers ago. We've been friends since were were 4 years old and she STILL lives in the same house :) I love it because when I get to go see her... it's like a step back in time.

This cold, snowy weather here in Dallas is getting old. I'm such a summer girl. I miss the golden sunny days, the bright blue sky, the scarce clouds, the sound of the crickets at night...
*sigh*

I can't wait for summer to come back around.

Well, my fiancé and I have been talking and it's looking like we might be able to pull off a wedding early this fall. As I announced before (which I should stop doing until the save-the-dates go out!) we were originally set for April 30, 2011. Unfortunately, this date was fast approaching and our finances were still lacking. We've been recently blessed with some positive changes to our finances so it's looking like an early fall wedding is in the works!

The dates we're considering: Sept 24, Oct 1, or Oct 8.

We're having an outdoor wedding at my aunt & uncle's ranch so the weather forecast is extremely important! I'm hoping these days won't be too hot... and if it rains (because this state is so bipolar), then we're getting married in a barn. lol I'll do my best to make it look more like this scene from The Proposal:
... a girl can wish!

Well, wish me luck as I truly beginning the wedding planning!! And I am MORE THAN HAPPY to take any tips :)

A few suggestions and a HUGE money-saving tip!

I made a dangerous trip to Ulta last week (my weakness!) but I luckily made it out without draining my funds!! I picked up just a couple items -

Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle Roller

I didn't think I would really like this item in the beginning. I held on to the receipt just in case! Of course, I brought it home and HAD to try it right then and there. I wasn't all that impressed. However, things sure changed the next morning! I woke up and gave it another try and I must say... I love it! The color is just enough to hide my dark circles and reflects light nicely. Puffiness went down drastically too!
Verdict: yes. I'm addicted.
...................................................

"Yes to Cucumbers" Facial Towelettes

These facial wipes are GREAT. They smell good and are very refreshing.
Verdict: yes
..................................................
This is where the Ulta haul ends....
..................................................

Massaging Bath Pillow

I scored this little jewel at Walmart for 50% off (when they put all their Christmas items on sale after Christmas). I'm not necessarily saying you should find THIS pillow but as a bubble bath lover... I'm convinced that having a pillow makes it 1000x more relaxing!
....................................................................

I wanted a Clarisonic for a long time.

And then... I found out that Olay was coming out with their own version and they claim it is just "as effective as the $200 leading product."

My fiancé surprised me with one for Christmas!

Olay Professional Pro-X Face Cleansing Brush

I love love love it!

I really do believe this product could give Clarisonic a run for their money! I use it with my normal face wash (Johnson's Baby Soap) and I've definitely noticed a difference in my skin. The texture is much smoother and I literally have had NO BREAKOUTS. I went through a whole "time of the month" without a single breakout! (Which never happens by the way! That's usually how I know it's coming!)

I would HIGHLY recommend this product!!
Verdict: Save the $150... get the Olay version

I think it's time to go enjoy my bath pillow in a nice, hot bubble bath :)

New purse!

I know I'm WAY too excited about this but I ordered this purse from meetmark.com (unfortunately, no longer available) and it came in!!!

I'm actually shocked at how much it'll hold!!

Mark by Avon - $15!!

Handbags make me WAY too happy! But that's ok ;) It's all about the small things, right?
